A roof or a remodel goes wrong when steps get skipped or handed off to someone who was not there for the earlier ones. GNG runs every job through the same sequence, with the same crew from start to finish. This is the actual sequence, not a summary of it.
Step by Step
How a Project Runs
- 01
First Call and Free Estimate
You call or send the contact form and we set a time to come look at the roof or project in person. The estimate is free and written, and it covers the full scope of the work.

Inspection and Measurement
We walk the roof and attic, check the decking, flashing and ventilation, and measure the job so the estimate reflects what is actually there, not a guess from the driveway.

Material Selection
You choose between asphalt shingle and metal roofing and see real samples, not a catalog page. We walk the tradeoffs for your roof, your budget and how long you plan to own the house.

Scheduling and Planning
We schedule the work, order materials and go over what happens on site, so you know the sequence before the first truck shows up.

Tear-Off
Every layer of the old roofing comes off down to the deck. Nothing gets covered up or roofed over, and the old material is hauled away.

Deck Inspection and Repair
With the old roof off, we inspect the wood decking underneath and repair or replace any rotted or damaged boards before anything new goes down.

Underlayment and Flashing
Synthetic underlayment goes down across the whole roof, with ice and water shield at eaves, valleys and penetrations, and flashing detailed at walls, chimneys and vents.

Installation
New shingles or metal roofing go on to manufacturer specification, installed by the same crew that gave you the estimate and did the tear-off. On remodels, additions and new construction, the same crew carries the job through framing and finish work.

Cleanup, Walkthrough and Warranty
We haul away debris, run a magnetic sweep of the yard and driveway for stray nails, then walk the finished work with you and go over the 10-year craftsmanship warranty in writing before we consider the job done.

The people on your roof were trained in the trade inside the business, by people already doing the work, not hired off a general labor pool and sent out with a crew they just met.
There is one crew, not a rotating set of subcontractors picked for whoever is available that week. The person who inspects your roof and writes your estimate is someone who will also be on the job, from tear-off to the final walkthrough.
That is also the reason there is no subcontracting. A subcontractor was not in the room when your estimate was written and will not be the one to come back if something needs attention under warranty.

How long does a roof replacement take once the crew is on site?
Most single-family roof replacements in the Fort Wayne area take one to three working days once the crew is on site. Steeper pitches, multiple layers of old shingles and bad decking add time. Your written estimate gives a specific schedule for your house before we start.
What happens during the free estimate?
We inspect the roof and attic in person, measure the roof, and check the decking, flashing and ventilation. You get a written estimate that covers the full scope of work, so nothing gets added later that was not already priced in.
Do you clean up the job site when the work is done?
Yes. We haul away the old roofing and run a magnetic sweep of the yard and driveway to pick up stray nails before the crew leaves. That is a standard part of every job, not an add-on.
Do you subcontract any part of the work?
No. GNG does not subcontract roofing, remodeling, additions or custom home work. The crew that inspects your roof and writes your estimate is the same crew that finishes the job.
